Rzeszów, Poland, 1977. Lives and works in Wroclaw, Poland.
Lukasz Huculak’s simple still life paintings and make-believe landscapes show a meticulous attention to composition. He uses gouache in an unconventional manner, layering it, sanding it, chipping at it and scraping it away. His paintings are rich with
texture. Looking as if they are peeling, cracking and covered in dust, they feel almost as if they are archaeological finds, rather than contemporary paintings. (Gallery statement)
