Szczecin, Poland, 1976. Lives and works in Szczecin and New York.
Monika Wiechowska has been traveling since she left Poland at
the age of seventeen. Always a foreigner, her photographs reveal
the search for identity in the dreamy faculty of memory. They
are informed by the past, while reflecting the ephemeral quality of mental images. The juxtaposition of elements borrowed from the intimate realm with those of a more obvious sphere define some of the characteristics of Wiechowska’s work.
