LORENZA LUCCHI BASILI

Pescara, Italy, 1964. Lives and works in Bologna.

Lorenza Lucchi Basili frequently and intentionally excises fragments of architecture from urban space. But this excision, while on one level it references the modern anthropological contents of cities, on another level they are not to be read as familiar fragments broken off from a whole. They are brought into new relations and

re-orchestrated through their presentation and installation. Her images are able to provoke an alternative sense of  urban de-realization: “I do not use my camera to

present reality, however. Rather, I aim to discover other realities that are contained within it.” (Mark Gisbourne)
