Takashi Murakami and Kaikai Kiki open gallery in Berlin

26.04.2012

Takashi Murakami and Kaikai Kiki have just announced the opening of Hidari Zingaro Berlin, their first gallery outside of Asia. The first official exhibition will be in June but will also be opening their doors for a preview event during Gallery Weekend. Artist Mahomi Kunikata will conduct live painting at the gallery all day from April 27 – 28.

Hidari Zingaro opened on the third floor of Nakano Broadway in Japan on April 28. Kaikai Kiki had been operating a window display on the shopping center’s first floor for some time, before opening a full fledged store selling artworks, antiques, posters, and other various items. The name Hidari Zingaro is derived from the genius sculptor Hidari Zingoro, who is said to have existed in the early years of the Edo period.
