This year’s ART HK opens to the public May 17. The four-day event now in its fifth edition has 266 galleries representing 38 countries worldwide, and is the only world class art fair to have a 50/50 balance of Asian and Western participation. This year’s fair will see ART HK Projects, a section dedicated to presenting large scale sculpture and installation works by leading artists from around the world, which debuted at last year’s event. It will present 10 installation works, positioned in 100 meter squared spaces throughout the exhibition halls.The galleries section will feature 182 galleries from 30 different territories. ART HK will also see the return of ASIA ONE, a section dedicated to showcasing the latest developments in Contemporary Art from across Asia. A record 63,511 visitors attended Art HK last year, and organizers expect a bigger crowd in 2012 as Hong Kong stakes its claim as one of the art capitals of the world.
