Fundación la Caixa and MACBA Foundation merge their collections

Isidre Fainé, president of la Caixa and Fundación la Caixa, and Leopoldo Rodés, Chairman of the Board of the MACBA Foundation, have agreed to a merge their respective foundations’ contemporary art collections.

The merger means that a single advisory committee would manage the two collections and the establishment of a coordinated works acquisition policy.

The two foundations will co-produce exhibitions featuring works from both collections, which together comprise some 2,400 works.

The initial four-year agreement also states the two foundations’ aim of generating synergies with regard to research, dissemination, education and social impact programs in the field of contemporary art.
